Denise Pilato and Jonathan Nelson opened their boutique in Frenchtown, NJ in June
2006 called, Nelson Bridge, after the design firm they founded in 1996. The company is all
about the love of modern design and the bridge between fashion and furniture.
Mr. Nelson is a furniture designer and Ms. Pilato is a fashion designer. Their custom
designed products are mixed with other items from designers and companies that
Nelson and Pilato have known and worked with over the years and whose work compliments their
own.
Jonathan, a registered architect, designed the store to operate as both a laboratory for
their new products and furniture, while also offering a source for interior designers,
architects and the public. Mr. Nelson has been designing and building modern furniture
since 1986 after graduating from the Memphis Movement inspired Domus
Academy in Milan. Most of his furniture is limited production or one-of-a-kind and
combines whimsical and classical forms of wood, aluminum, steel and glass.
Denise, a clothing designer, has recently set her sights on reworking vintage clothing by
salvaging great embroidery or bead work and recreating a design that utilizes the quality
of the past while embodying it in an up-to-date original design. Denise is a graduate of
Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and after working with Madison Avenue fashion
designer, Jackie Rogers, has been designing and producing her own clothing since 1996.
After many years of operating their "Bricks and Mortor"
store, in 2012, the Nelsons have gone fully "Virtual" and no will longer operate their store in Frenchtown. This will allow them to concentrate on their Interior Design and Furniture Design businesses, that are their true passion.
